I guess i can start with an introduction. my name is Fritz and like so many of us (i think) i feel like i dont do to much special in my life. I just go day by day without much change walking the walk of life one step at the time. But every once in a while i stand still and look back to realise i have already acomplished alot of what i set out to do. To make this perspective more visible I have decided to start writing this blog. Call it unfocused being busy or even ADHD the cause does not matter that much for now but i am realy bad at sticking to habits. to make writing this blog consistantly im well aware that i need all the help i can get.
this is the most important rule. no quality checks or quota for the amout of lines just put out something every month. For now the goal is to simply record and improve my writing by consistancy. a deadline for every first of the month to keep up with everything but more importantly anything happening in my life.
My day to day life is demanding enough without adding extra tasks. this blog is not supposed to add to the load. instead is should provide a structure for fun and learning. Knowing that the musts easily consume my life i would wish for this blog to be a tool to fit in the wants into my life.
now one thing i did learn in my life so far is that most is achieved not by knowing but by doing. want to be a chess grandmaster? move the pawn. want to become a F1 champion? get in a kart. its not about a perfect first move. Its about making any move you can.
With that logic in mind i do not want to set quality goals for this blog. or at least not yet. this first entry is not supposed to be perfect, groundbreaking or even coherent. its supposed to be the first step after which everything can improve. and i mean everything i do not only want to become better at writing these i also want to develop the way i host the blog itself. nothing is set in stone except.
As you might have guessed from my goal of “developing the way i host the blog” I like to tinker around in the field of IT. i am by no means an expert but i am currently employed as a software engineer and inspired by games like Evoland i woul want this blog to evolve to reflect my groth in techinical ability. to do this i would upfron like to think about backwards compatibility. to keep the first blog simple and not accidentaly in the style of https://justfuckingusehtml.com i will write my first blog fully in HTML but for the next blog i want to start storing them in a DB with some simple params to make room for more creative changes like possible using markdown or even a custom markup format.
maybe other than a excersize in writing, programming and timemanagement i would also want to use this platform to start orginizing myself and to record my progress on this. To start organizing myself i want to use a todo app which as a programmer is a no brainer, you make one right? well i choose not to this for the reason of i want to start now. so instead i choose to use an existing tool. and after having experienced trello, Jira, azure and clickup thoughout work/school i decided i hated all of them. after some searching i landed on notion a tool that seems to have very minimal assumsions and seems like it could be adjusted in many ways to my own liking. i might someday want to write my own version of this but for now i am happy with it and it seems like a good way to learn how i would want to use a tool like this. if i ever make a replacement for this having my notion work flow work would be a perfect MVP.
so now we have the rules we have a goal now for that fabbled first step. I figured the best thing to start with is to reduce the noise and reduce the chanels where this noise exists. So step one is putting all my emails in gmail on read. yes all 4.123 on my main and 15.342 on my spam email. clean slate no looking back. they are not gone but they are no longer unread. this is not a solution however. but instead of spending days looking through it i made a deal with myself to check my email every day now. open all the new mail. and if there is anything that is trying to sell me something i unsubscribe. i hope this will reduce the noise and make my mailbox usefull again. secondly i like to take notes that i have everywhere and nowhere. to make this easier to manage i have moved all of them physical or digital to notion. does it not fit in a list i have there? make a new one.
thats all for this month i feel this is a decent start and im looking forward to getting more into some projects next month. Ow and just in case it was not clear want to make sure you know I proudly have no idea what im doing and thats fine.
